Health Department Celebrates “International Childhood Cancer Day”

Barnala, 16, February / Karanpreet Karan / – Health Department Barnala under the guidance of Civil Surgeon (In-charge) Dr. Tapinderjot Kaushal celebrated “International Childhood Cancer Day” in the district.

Civil Surgeon Barnala said that cancer was mostly a disease found in adults, but these days its cases are increasing even in young children. This is a matter of concern for our society. Childhood cancer is curable if it is identified at the initial stage and the patient gets the right treatment at the right time. Therefore, parents need to be aware to protect their children from this disease.

In this regard, the Health Department organized a seminar at Block Dhanaula under the able leadership of Dr. Satwant Singh Aujla Senior Medical Officer CHC Dhanaula. Dr. Satwant Aujla said that according to the World Health Organization, cancer is the second most common disease in the world due to which most people are dying, so this disease can be avoided by being aware. He also gave detailed information about the facility of Rs. 1.50 lakh treatment for cancer patients under the “Chief Minister Punjab Cancer Relief Fund”.

At this time, Kuldeep Singh Mann District Mass Media and Information Officer, Harjit Singh District BCC Coordinator and Balraj Singh Block Extension said that brain cancer, solid tumor and bone cancer are common in children. Lumps in any part of the body, continuous high fever, bleeding from the mouth, swelling in any part without any reason, continuous severe pain, lump in the chest, continuous cough, hoarseness in the voice, excessive bleeding during menstruation or bleeding without menstruation, non-healing mouth ulcers etc. are the main symptoms of cancer.

He said that cancer can be caused by using cigarettes, paan, tobacco, khaini, gutka, alcohol etc., excessive spraying of pesticides, obesity and eating adulterated food. Therefore, it can be avoided only by being aware, making changes in lifestyle, using fruits and vegetables according to the season and getting yourself medically examined from time to time.
